What Stays on Your Device

When you find your ballot, this site saves a few things in your browser's local storage so your ballot is there next time:

• the address you entered, as the lookup matched it
• your precinct, your districts, and the map point for your address
• any boxes you checked under "Do any of these apply?"
• the picks you mark on your ballot

This is stored by your browser, on your device. It is not sent to us, and we cannot see it. It stays until you clear it, below or in your browser settings.

Save as Photo and Print make your list on your own device. Nothing is uploaded.

Finding Your Ballot

Finding your precinct takes one lookup. When you press Show My Ballot, your address goes to our server just long enough to ask the U.S. Census Bureau where it is on the map. Our server matches that spot to your precinct and districts, sends the answer back to your browser, and forgets the address. We don't save it or write it to a log.

If address suggestions are on, what you type goes to Google Places the same way, so it can suggest matching addresses. The Census Bureau and Google see the address because they answer the lookup, and they handle it under their own privacy policies.

To skip the lookup, use your precinct number instead. It never leaves your browser.

Visitor Counts

We use Fathom Analytics to count visits and see which pages people use. Fathom does not use cookies. It counts page views without building a profile of you, and we see only totals, such as how many people opened the amendments page today. It never receives your address or your picks.

Other Services This Site Uses

• Vercel hosts the site. Like any web host, it receives your IP address and browser type when you load a page, and keeps short-term logs to run and protect the service.
• CARTO serves the map images. On Your Ballot they load only after you press Show Map. On Where to Vote, the map of early voting sites loads as you scroll to it. CARTO sees which part of the map is loading, not your address.
• Fonts and the map code are served from our own site, not from a third party.

Links to Other Sites

We link to candidate campaign sites and official election offices. Those sites have their own privacy practices. Linking to a campaign is not an endorsement.

What We Don't Do

• No accounts, sign-ups, or email lists.
• No advertising or tracking pixels.
• We don't sell, rent, or share personal information.
• We don't know how you plan to vote.

Email

If you write to contact@shrevevotes.org, we receive your message and email address and use them only to reply and fix the guide. We don't add you to any list.

Children

This guide is for voters. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
